Therapy can be defined in so many different ways. I personally view it as an opportunity for individuals to explore their inner world and deepen their understanding of themselves. I am passionate about creating a safe space for this exploration while encouraging the development of my clients’ skills of self-empowerment, self-compassion, and curiosity. I believe that we are all the experts of our own experience, and I view the therapeutic relationship as one of collaboration. While my exact work changes depending on each client’s unique needs and strengths, a session with me is likely to include lots of questions, some intentional breathing, and a healthy dose of laughter.
I received my master’s degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. As a therapist, I draw on a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), feminist therapy, and somatic therapy. I am also a yoga teacher (RYT-200), and I hold additional certifications in restorative yoga and trauma-informed teaching. I believe in the importance of the mind/body/spirit connection, and I frequently encourage active and creative participation on the part of my clients.
I truly love what I do, and I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to work with my clients. If my approach interests you, I hope you’ll reach out.
